Request for Launch Opportunity

German Aerospace Center (DLR) e.V.

Germany's national research center for aeronautics and space (DLR) has decided to establish a compact satellite program in order to support internal development and research activities.
In this context, a standard satellite bus has been developed until C/D maturity which is now being adapted to individual scientific application fields. Presently exploration missions regarding biological experiments preparing manned exploration missions are in the focus of consideration.
The investigated science case leads to following relevant mission parameters:
Launch Date: Mid 2016
Mission Duration: appr. 1.5 Years
Final Orbit: 500 – 630, SSO, LTAN:0600 (SSO LTAN preferred but not necessary)
Total Mass at Launch: 150 – 250 kg
Dimensions (stowed configuration): 1300x1300x1300 mm³
Propulsion: N/A
Power: Solar Arrays
Attitude Control: Spin Stabilization, Magnetic Torquers
Payload Compartment: pressurized 1bar (appr. 0,27 m³ Volume)
Special requirements regarding launch service: Late Access (14 days prior to Launch), Umbilical (Power und Data), Environmental Conditions: 10° and 25° Celsius during launcher integration and within the fairing of the launcher until lift off.
