SIS100 RF (Acceleration System)

FAIR Facility For Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe GmbH

The Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR), located near Darmstadt (Germany) next to the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH area, is a new international accelerator and experimental facility for basic research with antiprotons and ions. The facility is financed and will be realized by an international cooperation planned in two stages. The first extend is the so called “Modularized Start Version”. An unprecedented infrastructure providing “cooled” precision beams of stable isotopes, antiprotons and radioactive beam for Nuclear-, Atomic-, Astrophysics and high density plasma physics is under construction, opening new fields in research. The heavy ion synchrotron SIS 100 (SchwerIonen Synchrotron in German) is the central accelerator in the FAIR Project. Primary high intensity beams are accelerated to an energy which corresponds to a magnetic rigidity of Bρ=100 Tm. The FAIR GmbH is responsible for the realization of the project and thus carries out the tendering of the associated technical tasks for these systems of the new accelerator facility.
