The Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR), located near Darmstadt (Germany) next to the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH area, is a new international accelerator and experimental facility for basic research with antiprotons and ions. The facility is financed and will be realized by an international cooperation planned in two stages. The first extend is the so called “Modularized Start Version”. An unprecedented infrastructure providing “cooled” precision beams of stable isotopes, antiprotons and radioactive beam for Nuclear-, Atomic-, Astrophysics and high density plasma physics is under construction, opening new fields in research. The heavy ion synchrotron SIS 100 (SchwerIonen Synchrotron in German) is the central accelerator in the FAIR Project. Primary high intensity beams are accelerated to an energy which corresponds to a magnetic rigidity of Bρ=100 Tm. The FAIR GmbH is responsible for the realization of the project and thus carries out the tendering of the associated technical tasks for these systems of the new accelerator facility.

Auftragsbekanntmachung (2013-09-04) Objekt Umfang der Beschaffung
Titel: Elektromagnetische Anlage
Menge oder Umfang:
The accelerating RF system for the SIS100 synchrotron is scope of this tendering process for procurement. This acceleration system has to produce at least 280kV acceleration voltage at harmonic h=10. The high-frequency system consists of 14 (fourteen) identical RF stations tunable in the frequency range from 1.1 to 3.2 MHz. This ensures acceleration of particles starting from protons to ions up to uranium and to perform necessary beam manipulations. The scope of this call for tender for the accelerator RF system includes the procurement of items:- Conceptual design of the complete RF system consisting of RF stations, cavities, amplifiers and power supplies.- The detailed technical design, engineering, manufacturing and delivery of sub-components for 14 RF stations. The RF stations to be delivered include the inductively loaded cavity, the beam pipe and the ceramic insulating gap, the necessary power lines and coupling loops, filter circuits, the tetrode based power amplifier and voltage dividers to measure the generated RF power, bias current conductors for resonant frequency tuning and the power supplies for the operation of the tetrode amplifier and all auxiliary voltages and bias current supply units.- Production, testing, delivery, installation and commissioning of 14 identical high-frequency RF stations.- Integration of standardized components delivered by the Company (or commissioned third party) into the RF stations (e.g. low level RF and solid state driver amplifier)- Signal processing for the control system.- Production and delivery of spare partsAdditional note: If the Modularized Start Version of FAIR is realized an upgrade is planned, which includes additional five to six RF stations in the accelerator. Ten additional RF stations with comparable technical specifications are foreseen for the SIS300 accelerator extension, depending on approval for the extension of the FAIR accelerator complex.
