1 double monochromator with 2 meridionally curved Si Laue crystals in Rowland geometry covering an energy range from 40-150keV for operations in the horizontal diffraction plane (Lot 2).

Kurze Beschreibung:
PETRA III, a new third generation synchrotron radiation source, has been built at DESY in Hamburg and is running since 2009. It is currently facing an upgrade to accommodate further 10 beamlines. The Swedish beamline, P21, located at the PETRA III extension, will house three endstations for high energy x-ray scattering experiments. 2 inline stations with a variable energy monochromator and one sidestation for high energy x-ray diffraction at energies of 52, 85 and 100 keV. The sidestation will initially use the same undulator beam as the inline station. Later, the sidestion will utilize the beam from a canted undulator which is offset from the inline beam by 80 mm at the monochromator…
… position.DESY is inviting tenders for the design and production of a single bounce bent Laue crystal monochromator for the sidestation of beamline P21.The single bounce monochromator will have a bent asymmetric Laue crystal with a horizontal scattering plane. The incident beam will be horizontal with a height of h=1400 mm above floor level. The diffracted beam shall be horizontal as well and have a scattering angle of 4.34+/-0.3 —, corresponding to 100 +/-7 keV for the Si(311) reflection, towards the outboard direction.

DESY is inviting tenders for the design and production of a single bounce bent Laue crystal monochromator for the sidestation of beamline P21.
The single bounce monochromator will have a bent asymmetric Laue crystal with a horizontal scattering plane. The incident beam will be horizontal with a height of h=1400 mm above floor level. The diffracted beam shall be horizontal as well and have a scattering angle of 4.34+/-0.3 —, corresponding to 100 +/-7 keV for the Si(311) reflection, towards the outboard direction.

Bezeichnung des Loses: 1 double crystal Laue monochromator for the in-line station of the Swedish Beamline P21 at the PETRA III extension
Kurze Beschreibung:
The double crystal Laue monochromator (DCLM) should cover an energy range from 40-150 keV and will operate in the horizontal diffraction plane. It will consist of 2 meridionally curved Si Laue crystals (symmetric 111-reflections) in Rowland geometry which should be cryogenically cooled. Due to the moderate energy deposited in the first crystal, indirect cooling seems advisable. The downstream crystal will be translated parallel to the incident beam to provide a fixed exit beam. Crystal vibrations around the glancing angle setting vertical axes and around the incident beam should be less than 0.1 mikrorad and 0.2 mikrorad, respectively (RMS). The absolute crystal positioning is less critical and reproducible non-linearities can be calibrated. Continuous energy scanning is not required. Particular engineering challenges are an efficient vibrational isolation and the cryogenic cooling of the second crystal due to the extended translation range. The monochromator consists of 5 functional engineering subunits: (i) vibration isolating support structure, (ii) UHV vacuum vessel, (iii) crystal positioning units, (iv) cooling system, and (v) crystal bending devices; and of control systems for the crystal temperature and crystal positioning. Independent motions (i.e. motions that do not require synchronization with another motion) will be controlled by the PETRA III control system. Coupled motions should have stand-alone control units with interfaces to the PETRA III control system. Software for the combined positioning of independent motions is not part of the call for tender.
