The synchrotron HESR (High Energy Storage Ring) will be operated within the FAIR Project (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research). FAIR is being constructed at GSI site in Darmstadt, Germany, and is a modern state-of-the-art particle accelerator facility for fundamental and applied research where international collaborations of scientists can conduct their experiments. This facility is being financed in international collaboration with presently 16 partner states. The company FAIR-GmbH has been founded in 2010 to take this task. The Research Center Jülich (Forschungszentrum Jülich, FZJ) planned the HESR and is contracted by FAIR to deliver the HESR.
