The project Climate friendly technologies and capacity development for the implementation of the Brazilian National Waste Policy also known as ‘IKI Waste Policy’ aims to contribute to the improvement of the conditions for the exploitation of the climate change mitigation potential of the waste sector. It started in May, 2017 and will end in April, 2021.
The Project has been carried out by the Brazilian government, under the coordination of the Ministry of Cities (MCID), in conjunction with the Ministry of the Environment (MMA) and the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication (MCTIC) in the context of Brazilian-German Cooperation for Sustainable Development. It is funded by Germany's Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
