In order to increase mitigation ambition amongst partner countries and contribute to enhanced action in the fields of LEDS, NAMAs, NDCs and MRV plans and systems, the Partnership on Transparency in the Paris Agreement and the UNDP LECB Programme examined a selection of more than 100 case studies in a database, which demonstrate how mitigation actions are being effectively designed and implemented across a range of national contexts (https://www.transparency-partnership.net/gpa ).

The overall objective of the assignment is to enhance the database (https://www.transparency-partnership.net/gpa). To this end, 81 new good practice case studies will be included into the database. Besides, the thematic focus will be expanded to include case studies on climate change adaptation. The objective of the assignment is to a) identify, analyse and prepare 36 new case studies as well as b) identify 45 already existing and documented case studies (overall 81 new cases) and include them into the good practise database. In contrast to the first two rounds of the good practice analysis, this will not be a one-time activity (addition of x number case on date y), but a continuous task over the contract period. The second objective of the assignment is to better understand how good practice case studies contribute to increasing climate action/ambition. To this end, the vendor will prepare three policy briefs, which will analyse how good practices help policy makers to make better informed decisions. The first policy brief will focus on how success factors have been successfully impacted the design of ambitious climate mitigation and MRV projects, the second brief will show how good practice cases helped to promote the UNFCCC negotiations (focus on the adoption of the Paris Agreement), and the third brief will analyse existing good practice cases and identify lessons learnt and success factors for certain sectors.
