81214482-Improving health care provision by strengthening epidemic prevention in Liberia
The Technical Cooperation measure TC measure: Post-Ebola health system strengthening and epidemic prevention in in Liberia was officially started in May 2016. The objective of the project is to enhance the resilience of the Liberian health system, including resilience to outbreaks of epidemic diseases.
With substantial support during and after the Ebola epidemic, Liberia has made progress both in implementing a system of Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) and establishing a functional surveillance system at national and county level. Gaps still remain and it is at the level of the Community that most support is presently needed. This is delivered through a system of Community Event Based Surveillance (CEBS). With substantial emergency-driven financing, donor organisations were able to develop effective programmes. These have now been substantially reduced or changed in emphasis. Our political partner in Liberia, the Ministry of Health, has therefore requested GIZ s.
