Institutional reform of public transport provision at the City of Windhoek
The Namibian-German project on ‘Transport, Mobility, Logistics’ is supporting the Ministry of Works and Transport (MWT) in developing a sustainable transport sector and respective services. The goal is that ‘Service delivery by state actors operating in the transport, mobility and logistics sector has improved in terms of quality and quantity.’
The project is a third phase of the GIZ's engagement in the transport sector of Namibia, building upon the project ‘Strengthening of Institutional and Management Capacity in the Road Sector’, which was conducted from 2011-2016 and concluded in November 2016.
It was under this project that the Sustainable Urban Transport Master Plan for Windhoek was developed and implementation commenced. Within the scope of this project the City of Windhoek is supported in their implementation efforts and thus provision is made for the improvement of public transport services.
