The aim of the ADAPTUR project is to build the capacity of the Mexican tourism sector in selected regions to enable it to adapt better to the already noticeable adverse impacts of climate change.This will involve analysing the impacts of climate change on the environment, ecosystem services and the tourism industry and training key stakeholders in ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA).The contractor’s tasks are:

B) target-group-specific training courses for at least 250 persons (public and private decision-makers and, if appropriate, NGOs, universities, institutes, etc.) at national, federal state and local level in the three project regions (San Miguel de Allende, Riviera Nayarit/Jalisco, Riviera Maya, including Cozumel). In addition, via an advisory pool of short-term experts, the contractor should;

C) provide technical advisory services (which may include further capacity building) on specific EbA issues and EbA measures that will be developed and implemented in the course of the project in cooperation with the Mexican partners and the private sector; these services might include vulnerability analyses, cost-benefit analyses, economic analyses, policy advice, specific advice on the planning and implementation of concrete EbA measures, processing of project experiences and lessons learned for further dissemination for purposes of knowledge management, documents with recommendations for action on the integration of EbA into planning processes, sector strategies, regulations, etc.
