Main activities within the assignment are:
— improve capacity of public and private trade service providers to promote foreign trade,
— support the development of demand-based services for promoting export of selected export oriented products (e.g. international market information and requirement, export readiness test, financial products for export, etc.),
— develop strategies for allowing selected Jordanian products to access priority markets,
— improve access to updated information for companies about requirements of regional and international markets,
— develop online portal with trade related information.
The project supports state institutions, but also plans to capacitate selected private service providers to improve provision of trade services in demand.
The project has selected 7 institutions/service providers to build their capacities in providing trade related services to exporters. In their service provision, the institutions have developed 2 options: either they provide services with their own (limited) technical personnel or external consultants (outsourcing) are used.
The consultancy market shows to be limited both, in quantity and quality. Very few consultants in Jordan provide export promotion services to trade oriented companies. The pool of qualified experts is one of the key elements ensuring the provision of high quality services. Trained experts will provide outsourced services to trade development organizations as well as provide consultancy to trade oriented companies directly.
The objectives of the assignment are:
— organizational development of trade service providers: improve business processes of 7 selected public and private service institutions in order to provide improved or newly developed trade related services to companies,
— provision of trade services: develop or improve trade services with highest demand (international market information and requirements, export readiness test, export financing instruments and guarantees (export financing), inbound and outbound trade missions) and support their promotion,
— business linkages: facilitate business linkages of Jordanian companies within selected sectors with potential buyers in EU (directed both to service providers and directly to companies),
— online trade portal: develop a concept, business model, software requirement specifications (SRS) and ToR for the implementation of an online trade information portal, which consolidates all trade related information (standards, information on selected markets, market access requirements, information on services and service providers) in a uniform way,
— consultancy: establish a pool of experts on trade services demanded by Jordanian companies and include into Trade Portal.
