The programme is co-funded by the European Union and the German Government, and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing (FMPWH).

The renewable energy sector in Nigeria is currently experiencing an increase in the participation of investments or investors. This is largely due to the increasing number of mini grid projects around the country. It has however become important to develop standards for these of these equipment to further encourage and strengthen the environment for investments.

This project will address the existing needs in the renewable energy sector in terms of operational and technical standards and support in terms of the development of standards for solar PV modules, batteries and charge controllers, in order to boost investments.

The assignment is planned for 942 expert-days as described in the Terms of reference, starting approximately February 2020.
