Protection of the Environment and Biodiversity in Jordan (PROTEB II)
Growing pressure is being placed on Jordan's environment due to population growth and economic development, which has increased significantly with the influx of refugees from neighbouring countries. Loss of biodiversity, soil degradation, improper use of natural resources, and water are challenges that are further exacerbated by high levels of environmental degradation from increased quantities of waste, polluted air, and wastewater generated by industry and agriculture. In order to overcome such challenges, the Ministry of Environment was established in 2003 and designated overarching responsibility for environmental conservation and protection.
The objective of “Protection of the Environment and Biodiversity in Jordan (PROTEB II) project is to increase the capacity of the Ministry of Environment for policy-making” and management. For this purpose, measures will be implemented across four fields of activity:
1) Increasing the capacity of the Ministry of Environment to prioritise environmental legislation for further development and implementation;
2) Enhancing environmental monitoring to serve as a solid and transparent basis for decision-making;
3) Improving cooperation with non-governmental organisations, the private sector, other state institutions and including local governments;
4) Enhancing governance capacities of the Ministry of Environment for hazardous waste management.
The project runs until end of February 2020.

1) The applicant has identified the claimed infringement of the procurement rules before submitting the application for review and has not submitted a complaint to the contracting authority within a period of 10 calendar days; the expiry of the period pursuant to Article 134, Section 2 remains unaffected,
2) Complaints of infringements of procurement rules that are evident in the tender notice are not submitted to the Contracting Authority at the latest by the expiry of the deadline for the application or by the deadline for the submission of bids, specified in the tender notice;
3) Complaints of infringements of procurement rules that first become evident in the tender documents are not submitted to the Contracting Authority at the latest by the expiry of the deadline for application or by the deadline for the submission of bids;
4) More than 15 calendar days have expired since receipt of notification from the Contracting Authority that it is unwilling to redress the complaint.
