The project ‘Provision of Financial Inclusion’ is implemented by GIZ and the Ministry of Finance of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) within the program ‘Sustainable Economic Development’ in DRC, financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The project has a duration of 3 years and works in 5 mining provinces of the DRC and is structured around 3 components:
1) Financial literacy: improving the preconditions for the promotion of financial education in mining areas;
2) Financial services: support to financial institutions (Microfinance institutions, savings and credit cooperatives) to improve their range of financial products and services offered to low-income households and MSMEs, particularly in mining regions;
3) Action research: the collection and sharing of qualitative and quantitative information on the financial needs and behavior of economic actors through practice-oriented scientific studies.
