The assignment will be part of the module ‘Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains’ within the Indonesian-German Forests and Climate Change Program (FORCLIME), implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The module's goal is to establish sustainable agricultural supply chains for globally traded agricultural commodities from Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan. To achieve this objective, four key outputs have been defined:
— Output 1: The capacity of small-scale farmers to produce quality products for selected sustainable agricultural supply chains is strengthened,
— Output 2: The capacity of government institutions, civil society, and private sector organisations to implement sustainable supply chains, including conflict resolution mechanisms, is established,
— Output 3: National initiatives to strengthen sustainable supply chains are strengthened,
— Output 4: Access to global markets for the small-scale farmers in Kapuas Hulu is improved.
To achieve Output 4 and, in the process, contribute to achieving Output 2, the TC Module seeks consultants to develop and execute a communication and outreach program to attract green investments to and market sustainable agricultural products and NTFPs from Kapuas Hulu Biosphere Reserve at both national and global levels.
In the frame of this assignment, the consulting firm or a consortium of firms is expected to perform the following tasks:
1) Work in collaboration with Kapuas Hulu stakeholders to compile the information needed by prospective investors and/or buyers, including a portfolio of potential green investments and sustainable agricultural products and NTFPs;
2) Develop an outreach and communications strategy to promote ‘green investments’ and sustainable, eco-friendly products as well as a series of communications products required, as identified by the strategy;
3) Facilitate the participation of Kapuas Hulu representatives in relevant outreach and marketing events, e.g. trade shows, fairs, etc. and organise own events and engagements, e.g. with the media, as necessary;
4) Evaluate the activities and identify the lessons learned and recommendations for next steps.
The contractor of this assignment will be required to provide the following personnel:
— team leader 96 working days,
— facilitation specialist 90 working days,
— communications strategist 49 working days,
— media and event specialist 49 working days.
All key consultants are expected to have insight knowledge and previous experience working on projects related to sustainable agricultural products or NTFPs, supply chain management, as well as business management and marketing. All experts and consultants are further expected to have the necessary socio-cultural skills. The anticipated length of the assignment spreads over 18 months.
