An H2 container pilot plant is being set up and operated at the DLR test site in Lampoldshausen, which is supplied with gaseous hydrogen by two electrolysers. The electrolysers are powered by green wind electricity. In the case of lack of wind, the hydrogen supply to the pilot plant is temporarily bridged by a buffer tank until enough wind blows again to enable the electrolysers for supplying.
The operating pressure of the buffer tank is between 300 bar and 20 bar. At a pressure of 300 bar the buffer tank should have a volume of 24 m. The area on which the buffer tank is to be installed is 4 m x 14.5 m and is located outdoors. In addition, the tank should be able to endure a load cycle discharge of 2 000 cycles as well as a maximum leakage rate of 10^-5 mbar*l/s not exceeded. The complete service should be provided by 1 August 2022.
