II.1.2) Type of contract and location of works, place of delivery or of performance Supplies NUTS code DE300 II.1.3) The notice involves A public contract II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s) The Helmholtz Centre Berlin (HZB) will install a series connected hybrid magnet (SCH) for performing neutron scattering experiments in high magnetic fields. The basic design of the SCH magnet has been performed by the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL), Tallahassee, USA under a research agreement with HZB. An SCH magnet consists of a concentric superconducting outer magnet (outsert coil) within a cryostat (vacuum container and radiation shields), connected electrically in series with a water-cooled inner magnet (insert coil). The superconducting cable-in-conduit conductor (CICC) coil winding pack has an inner diameter of 0.6 m, an outer diameter of 1.2 m, a length of 0.8 m. The weight of the cold mass is about 9 t. the coil contributes 13 Tesla to the central field of the SCH. The magnet will be able to run without the. Resistive coil in superconducting magnet only (SMO) mode. The cryostat and the integration of the superconducting CICC-coil (delivered by HZB) into the cryostat are subject of the call for tender. The scope of the call for tender is divided into: The fabrication of the cryostat. The assembly of the Nb3Sn CICC coil (delivered by HZB) into the cryostat. The main components of the cryostat include vacuum vessel, 50K thermal shields, RT bore tube and RT-to-4K links. A thermal shield cooled with 50 K helium gas and MLI (multi-layer-insulation) are installed between the magnet and the cryostat walls to reduce heat radiation losses. In the space between the insert coil and the outsert coil are RT bore, 50 K shield and 4 K bore tube. The Vendor shall assemble the main cold mass, which is the CICC coil already assembled in its magnet frame, into the cryostat. The vendor is responsible to integrate all components inside the cryostat, according to procedures to be agreed on with HZB. The water-cooled inner magnet and its integration is not part of this call for tender. The contract is expected to be completed when the magnet has passed the acceptance test in SMO mode proving that all components of the cryostat and their assembly work properly.
