The objective of the overall project — Promotion of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency programme (PREEEP) — is to ’Increase the electricity production from renewable energy sources and improve access to renewable and clean energy as well as the efficiency of supply and use of energy’. In line with this, the objective of the PREEEP/BMZ commission is to improve the framework conditions for access to clean energy in rural and peri-urban areas.
Key outputs are:
1) The political framework conditions are improved for increasing access to clean energy;
2) The pre-conditions are improved for strengthening the market for renewable energy and/or energy efficiency technologies in Northern Uganda;
3) Professional skills for improving access to clean energy are strengthened in a market-oriented and gender-sensitive manner;
4) Local capacities for mainstreaming clean energy are strengthened.
