Tel. +49 308062-2227. Fax +49 308062-3086. Internet address(es): General address of the contracting authority: www.helmholtz-berlin.de. Further information can be obtained at: As in above-mentioned contact point(s). Specifications and additional documents (including documents for competitive dialogue and a dynamic purchasing system) can be obtained at: As in above-mentioned contact point(s). Tenders or requests to participate must be sent to: As in above-mentioned contact point(s). I.2) TYPE OF THE CONTRACTING AUTHORITY AND MAIN ACTIVITY OR ACTIVITIES: Body governed by public law. Other: research. The contracting authority is purchasing on behalf of other contracting authorities: no. SECTION II: OBJECT OF THE CONTRACT II.1) DESCRIPTION II.1.1) Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority: HZB Magnet System. II.1.2) Type of contract and location of works, place of delivery or of performance: Supplies. Purchase. Main place of delivery: Berlin. NUTS code: DE300. II.1.3) The notice involves: A public contract. II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) will install a Series Connected Hybrid (SCH) magnet for performing neutron scattering experiments in high magnetic fields. The basic design of the SCH magnet has been performed by the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL), Tallahassee, USA under a research agreement with HZB. A SCH magnet consists of a concentric superconducting outer magnet (outsert coil) within a cryostat (vacuum container and radiation shields), connected electrically in series with a water-cooled inner magnet (insert coil). The magnet will be able to run without the resistive coil in superconducting magnet only (SMO) mode. The cryostat, the winding of the superconducting magnet on the basis of Nb3Sn cable-in-conduit-conductor (CICC) and the integration of the CICC- coil into the cryostat are subject of the call for tender. The scope of the call for tender is divided into three lots: LOT 1: The fabrication of the cryostat. LOT 2: The fabrication of the Nb3Sn CICC coil. LOT 3: The assembly of the Nb3Sn CICC coil into the cryostat. The water-cooled inner magnet and its integration is not part of this call for tender. The contracts of lot 1, lot 2 and lot 3 are expected to be completed when the magnet has passed the acceptance test in SMO mode proving that all components for lot 1 and lot 2 and their assembly (lot 3) work properly. The Vendor can tender for one or more lots. HZB prefers to minimize interface management and therefore encourages the Vendor to tender for more than one lot. Vendors bidding for lot 3 should also bid at least on lot 1 or lot 2. II.1.6) Common procurement vocabulary (CPV): 42992000, 31630000, 44610000. II.1.7) Contract covered by the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA): No. II.1.8) Division into lots: Yes. Tenders should be submitted for: one or more lots. II.1.9) Variants will be accepted: Yes. II.2) QUANTITY OR SCOPE OF THE CONTRACT II.2.1) Total quantity or scope: 1 item. II.3) DURATION OF THE CONTRACT OR TIME-LIMIT FOR COMPLETION: Duration in months: 24 (from the award of the contract). INFORMATION ABOUT LOTS LOT NO 1 TITLE: The fabrication of the cryostat 1) SHORT DESCRIPTION: The main components of the cryostat include vacuum vessel, 50K thermal shields, 4 K bore tube and RT to 4K links. A thermal shield cooled with helium gas and MLI (multi-layer-insulation) are installed between the magnet and the cryostat walls to reduce heat radiation losses. In the space between the insert coil and the outsert coil are RT bore, 50 K shield and 4 K bore tube. 2) COMMON PROCUREMENT VOCABULARY (CPV): 44610000. 3) QUANTITY OR SCOPE: 1 item. LOT NO 2 TITLE: The fabrication of the Nb3Sn CICC coil 1) SHORT DESCRIPTION: The CICC coil winding pack has an inner diameter of 0,6 m, an outer diameter of 1,2 m, a height of 0,8 m and contributes 13 T to the central field using three grades of CICC. Each conductor grade carries 20 kA and employs the same type of Nb3Sn superconducting wire, but each grade contains different quantities of superconducting wires different cabling patterns and different aspect ratios. To apply pre-compression the coil has to be assembled in a magnet frame with two endplates and tie rods. 2) COMMON PROCUREMENT VOCABULARY (CPV): 42992000, 31630000, 31640000, 33158100. 3) QUANTITY OR SCOPE: 1 item. LOT NO 3 TITLE: The assembly of the Nb3Sn CICC coil into the cryostat 2) COMMON PROCUREMENT VOCABULARY (CPV): 51540000, 51100000. 3) QUANTITY OR SCOPE: 1 item.
