Subject of this call is a surface analysis system for the Materials for Energy laboratory of the Institute for Technical Chemistry and polymer Chemistry at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. The system will consist of preparation, analysis, and load lock chambers and optionally also contain a distribution and a sample storage chamber. The analysis section of the instrument has to include an electron analyzer for XPS and UPS as well as sources for x-ray and UV excitation.

The X-SPEC beamline will be a soft and medium hard x-ray undulator beamline at the ANKA synchrotron radiation facility in Karlsruhe that offers a wide energy range from 80 eV up to 15 keV. A permanent magnet undulator covering the energy range from 90 eV to 15 000 eV for the ANKA synchrotron (2.5 GeV) is requested. To cover this energy range the undulator has to be equipped with two in-vacuum magnetic structures with different period lengths that can be switched during operation of the storage ring.
